Nearly three decades later, he continues to serve as Vice President and Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager for this venerable labor union, a role he has held since January 2002. This journey represents a remarkable evolution from his initial position in April 1990 when he assumed the role of an International Representative for the LIUNA Jurisdictional Disputes Department.

One such initiative allowed workers on Fluor-Lane’s expansion of Route 495 Hot Lanes Project to choose whether to join this esteemed union. This pivotal initiative proved its significance when the workers overwhelmingly voted to become members of LiUNA Local 11. It stands as one of the most remarkable union victories in the Virginia construction industry in recent memory. Subsequently, Dennis L. Martire transitioned to the union's Laborers' Construction Department, initially as an assistant Director and later as the Director of that department.
